- The Masses: Shooting video with ‘toys’
- 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Workshop Room
Matt Amato, founding member of The Masses is on hand to present a workshop on the ‘toy’ looking small digital camera: Digital Harinezumi 2. Completely out of date, this camera cannot shoot clearly like one of those high-tech cameras.
The camera’s fickle and rough shots are always full of noises, and leaves us with a sense of déjà-vu. When it comes to the videos, its peculiarity is outstanding. That is what caught the eyes of the illustrious artists who work with the camera. The Masses will present a 30-minute program of their recent work with the camera.
Matt’s work with the Harinzumi camera has been featured in exhibits at the New Museum in NYC, Tokyo, Singapore and Paris alongside such artists as Jonas Mekas, Albert Maysles, Harmony Korine, Miranda July, Ed Templeton and Mark Borthwick. In 2011, Amato and Harinezumi are planning for a collective show in Los Angeles.
