Kid Koala
Kid Koala
Growing up in Vancouver, Canada, and now living in Montreal, turntablist extraordinaire Kid Koala first began experimenting with his now signature scratch technique on his sister’s record player. While in college, his innovative style set the club scene on fire in Montreal, landing him an opening spot on tour with the Beastie Boys before his debut album was even produced. Now, the famed underground mix master is slinging a stylized and stuttering collection of thick cut beats and sizzling down tempo arrangements.

Mixing in doses of soul, funk, even classic rock, the manic DJ’s experimental collages of trip-hop, electronica, and house music are sophisticated and complexly woven, but sound spontaneous and loose when played in the club. Also an accomplished writer and artist, Kid Koala produces graphic novels and illustrated projects in between albums. After an extended break from music, the Kid returned last year with Space Cadet Soundtrack, aptly named to accompany his latest graphic novel of the same name. Intensely visual and strikingly original, Kid Koala is still as innovative and influential as they come.

DJ Swayzee
DJ Swayzee
A mix of R&B and new wave, the chilled, hypnotic rhythms of San Francisco’s DJ Swayzee is made for dancing dirty until dawn. Pointed ambient swells behind breaking beats and gangsta flows come together for a fresh take on old school hip-hop. Invoking the ghost of legends like Run DMC and contemporaries like DJ Shadow, DJ Swayzee’s reputation’s gone from rebel outsider to sought-after underground sensation.

Jel
Jel
Listening to the hey-days of hip hop while growing up in Chicago, Jeffery Logan, better known today as Jel, adored the pioneers of his youth. Now living in Berkeley with the same SP-1200 beatmachine he started out with, Jel is making some of the grooviest electronic cuts around. Piling smooth rhymes over his unique beats, Jel has collaborated with the likes of Mike Patton and Sage Francis, contributed to several different projects, and drops considerable amounts of knowledge on today’s generation.

J House
J House
Throwing down the freshest beats, J House embodies the best of the Bay Area. Freaky, dirty and always raucous, the DJ has made a name in the underground scene in San Francisco and beyond. Always ready to kick start the action, J House brings the noise with an indie flair, tossing motley tracks around during extended mix sessions with non-stop energy. J House jams are aways inventive and surprising, never presenting the same thing twice and always amping up the insanity in the clubs.
